Start with mountain trekking through Berber villages, then journey east through stunning landscapes to the desert. Experience the Mystery Desert route with Ait Benhaddou, Todra Gorge, and Erg Chebbi dunes. This tour provides depth in both environments - perfect for those who want a comprehensive Morocco experience combining natural beauty, cultural encounters, and adventure.
Drive to Imlil village (1,740m). Start trekking through terraced valleys and traditional Berber villages. Experience mountain life as you climb gradually through walnut groves and apple orchards. Arrive at remote mountain village for overnight homestay. Traditional Berber dinner with host family. Authentic hospitality and cultural immersion.
Trekking: 4-5 hours | Overnight: Berber homestay
Morning trek through beautiful valleys. Descend to Imlil. After lunch, begin journey toward the desert. Cross High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) with panoramic views. Visit famous Ait Benhaddou UNESCO kasbah. Arrive Ouarzazate, "Gateway to the Desert". Overnight in traditional kasbah hotel.
Trekking: 3-4 hours | Driving: 6 hours | Overnight: Ouarzazate
Drive through Valley of Roses to spectacular Dades Valley with dramatic rock formations. Continue to Todra Gorge - walk through the towering 300m canyon walls. Visit Berber villages and palm groves. Arrive Merzouga region. Check into desert hotel. Optional evening visit to local nomad family for tea. Prepare for tomorrow's camel trek.
Driving: 6-7 hours | Overnight: Merzouga hotel
Morning exploring Merzouga area - visit Khamlia village (Gnawa music), fossils, seasonal lake. Afternoon camel trek into Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch spectacular sunset from high dunes. Traditional Berber desert camp with tagine dinner, music around campfire, and stargazing. Sleep in comfortable nomad tents. Magic desert night!
Camel Trek: 2 hours | Overnight: Desert camp
Wake early for Sahara sunrise. Camel ride back to Merzouga. Breakfast and shower. Begin return journey west through different route. Stop at Rissani traditional market. Drive through Draa Valley palm groves. Arrive Ouarzazate for overnight. Relax after desert adventure.
Camel Trek: 2 hours | Driving: 6-7 hours | Overnight: Ouarzazate
Final day crossing back over the Atlas Mountains. Stop for photos at scenic viewpoints. Optional visit to Argan oil cooperative. Arrive Marrakech afternoon with incredible memories of both mountains and desert. Perfect ending to comprehensive Morocco adventure!
